What we access

With your explicit consent, garmlink connects to Garmin Connect on your behalf to sync your own health and activity data, read-only. We never post to Garmin and never modify your account.

Credentials

Your Garmin password is used once to sign in and is never stored. We keep only the resulting access tokens, encrypted at rest. Disconnecting deletes those tokens.

AI Transparency Statement

Three separate things send your data to an AI provider, and they are not the same thing. This section names all three, because until 2026-09-25 it named only the first and that was an omission, not a stale page.

1. Assistants you connect yourself. When you link garmlink to Claude (Anthropic), ChatGPT (OpenAI), Perplexity or Gemini (Google), your synced Garmin data is sent to that assistant so it can answer your questions. This happens only for connectors you authorize, and only while they are authorized.

2. The coach built into this app. The assistant inside the garmlink dashboard is not one of your connectors: it runs on a model we call on your behalf, currently hosted by Google, with OpenAI as a fallback. It reads your Garmin data through the same tools the connectors use, so your sleep, heart-rate variability and activities are sent to that provider each time you ask it something. Within one question, each tool result is sent again on the follow-up calls that answer it; it is not kept afterwards. Your own messages and its replies ARE stored in our database so the conversation survives a reload, and they are sent again as context on later questions.

3. The weekly digest emails. If you turn a report section on, the same kind of model composes that section from your data, unattended, on a schedule. Sections are off until you enable them.

All of these providers act as subprocessors and process the data under their own terms. We do not train any model on your data, and we do not sell it. The specific model behind (2) and (3) is configuration and can change without this page changing; the providers named here are what we commit to.

Cutting an assistant off. Disconnecting Garmin stops the sync and deletes the synced data, which leaves a connector with nothing to read — but it does not itself invalidate the token that assistant holds. To revoke a specific assistant, remove the garmlink connector inside that assistant. We are building a per-client revocation control in the dashboard; until it ships, this is the honest description.

Deletion

Disconnecting your Garmin account purges your synced data by default. Deleting your garmlink account removes everything associated with it.
